Hi Cousins

I hope everyone is well.  When you have a moment could you please have a look at the attached birth certificates which I ordered recently.  As they are not on Ham’s website I have assumed that no-one has these.

(i)    Birth of Herbert Alfred Smith.  This all seems to be correct.

Herbert Alfred Smith birth certificate

(ii)    Birth of Thomas Alfred Smith (father of Herbert). This shows father George and mother Mary Philpot (not Susan as shown on Janet’s ancestry records).  I think this would make sense as there is a child of this marriage called Maurice Philpott Smith.  Let me know what you think.

Thomas Alfred Smith birth Certificate

(iii)    Birth of Julia Eleanor Brown.  This all seems correct.

Julia Brown birth certificate

(iv)    Birth of James Warren.  This shows father Thomas and mother Ellen Maria Wallis (not Backwell).

James Warren birth certificate

I have also found a record of Thomas Warren marrying Ellen Maria Wallis in Romford, Essex in 1853 (Vol 4a Page 104).  Not to be confused with Lydia Willis who he marries in 1885. I think this is consistent with the “Dagenham” connection rather than a marriage that took place in Surrey but I am happy to be proved wrong.

I will look forward to getting some feedback from you.

Love to everyone

Linda

Hey lovely Linda, And also lovely to hear from you. I am sure that putting this information into The Family Warren is the best way to get more information if there is any.

It all seems very convincing to me, and I have changed the Family Tree where I can, and the amended one should be there on Monday, or even tomorrow.

I think Margaret added the certificates today, and your message is in the Post, for comment by anyone interested. Thank you again … it keeps on getting more complex, and more fascinating. Keep it coming!

Love h

Hi again Hamilton

The cost of UK certificates is about to go up this week so I am going ahead with the assumption that I am correct and have ordered :

1. Thomas Warren’s marriage to Ellen Maria Wallis
2. Samuel’s Browns marriage to Louisa Hawkes
3. Thomas Alfred’s marriage to Harriett Burden
4. Harriet Burden’s birth certificate.

I will forward these on to you when I receive them (it takes about 3-4 weeks). I am also still on the trail of the Pratt & Bond families. Will send you more info & photos soon.

We are planning a holiday some time in August or September & hope to drive up to Inverell (Barry’s great grandfather lived in that area in the 1800’s – records show that he is buried in Inverell and I would like to see if there is a gravestone) and then across to Bangalow to see you. It would be great to go through all my research with you. Emailing is good but there are so many things to talk about.

Will let you know closer to the time what our plans are.

Love

Linda
